Research Policy

The University’s research policy has two central goals:

  1. Promoting quality, and
  2. Promoting excellence .

The Research Committee strategy is to integrate and disseminate a philosophy of quality in the full range of research activity. Since November 2002, the Research Committee has been accredited with ISO 9001:2000, which applies both to the operation of the Committee itself and the research laboratories.

This international certification ensures that the organization applies an objective system in its operations, aiming at meeting the demands both of its clients and its own staff.

On the basis of its quality philosophy lie the principles of measurement, correction, evaluation, and review, which, ultimately, safeguard the uninterrupted development of quality products and/or services.

Its policy of excellence aims at promoting the distinction of the university in the international research arena. This policy is implemented by gathering a critical scientific mass of state-of-the-art research projects, by adopting an interdisciplinary approach, setting up research teams and integrating the necessary processes for the development of innovation in research activity.

The policy of excellence includes components such as the recognition of high individual performance, the establishment of new research units, as well as the consolidation of an environment that fosters innovative actions.
